The Pride Symposium is a multi-day community-building experience and campus welcome opportunity designed to provide incoming students with information about the LGBTQ Pride Center, annual events and ways to get involved. Students will learn about LGBTQ+ student organizations on campus, opportunities to volunteer through the Pride Center, and resources in the local community. Incoming students will get a chance to connect with each other and hear from returning students about what it’s like at NC State. For 2026, Pride Symposium will be offered as “Pride Center Preview,” a 1-day program.

LGBTQ+ History Month is an annual series of events held each October that are designed to engage students, faculty and staff in learning about LGBTQ history. Be it a lecture, workshop, a film viewing and discussion, or a hands-on event, the Pride Center seeks to create a space for students, faculty and staff to learn, connect and grow.

Our Futures is an ongoing dialogue between NC State Students and LGBTQ+ community members living and working in the Triangle. Guest speakers join the Pride Center to discuss their experiences, passions, and interests around a given theme. Participants will have the opportunity to converse with the speakers as we co-create our futures together.

Queer Quorum is a discussion series featuring topics selected by students. Student dialogue facilitators choose each month’s topic and guide participants through thoughtful, engaging conversations.

The Pride Center hosts Trans Awareness Month each November to highlight and celebrate the experiences of transgender, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming communities. Events throughout the month provide opportunities to learn, connect, and build community, including the Pride Center’s annual observance of Transgender Day of Remembrance on or around November 20.

Join the Pride Center and Campus Health in celebrating LGBTQ Health Awareness Week. Events include a health fair, clothing swap, and other wellness-focused programs held throughout the week.

Lavender Celebration of Graduates is an annual event that recognizes and celebrates graduating students. We invite all graduates to join the celebration and be recognized for their accomplishments.

History of Lavender Graduation
Lavender Graduation is a celebration conducted on numerous campuses to honor lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and ally students and to acknowledge their achievements and contributions to the university. The Lavender Graduation was created by Dr. Ronni Sanlo at the University of Michigan in 1995. The annual celebration was created to recognize LGBT students and acknowledge their achievements and contributions to the university.
